Aspen Elementary Computer Lab
Disclosure Document 2025–2026
Hello from Mrs. Godfrey in our awesome Computer Lab at Aspen Elementary!
Welcome to another exciting year of learning! Students will become First Class Problem Solvers as we explore how to use computers, science, and technology to help ourselves and others.
Schedule:
Kindergarten attends computer class once a week for 30 minutes
1st–6th graders attend computer class once a week for 40 minutes
Course Overview:
Students will complete a variety of activities that build computer knowledge, creativity, and responsibility. Lessons follow the Alpine School District Technology Curriculum, which includes four strands:
Digital Safety & Citizenship – Media Balance, Privacy, Online Etiquette, Cyberbullying, Digital Communication, and AI Awareness
Foundational Technology Skills – Keyboarding, File Management, IT Basics, Research, and Using Technology to Communicate
Coding & Computer Science – Algorithms, Debugging, Loops, Events, Systems, and Impacts of Computing
Creativity & Innovation – Technology in the Design Process and Creating Original Works Activities are adjusted for grade level and learning styles.
Grading:
The computer grade is Pass/Fail based on students being actively engaged in my class. Students are expected to attend, follow directions, and engage in classwork.
Student Gmail & Safety:
Starting in 3rd grade, students receive Gmail access and create a unique password. Students should share this password with their parents and keep it secure. We encourage parents to actively monitor their child’s account to ensure safe and appropriate online behavior, as parent involvement is essential to digital safety. Internet filters are in place. Students are taught to use email and the internet appropriately and what to do if inappropriate material appears while using this account. Permission for this account is granted when parents agree to Alpine District's Acceptable Use Agreement (AUA) during the annual Skyward information update.
At-Home Practice:
Students in grades 3–6 are encouraged to practice keyboarding using correct fingering and Home Row Keys. Families can visit the Computer Lab Website via the school homepage for grade-level lessons, digital activities, and internet safety resources.
District Internet Guidelines
School computers are for educational use only.
All use occurs under teacher supervision.
Students must follow directions and report accidental access to inappropriate content.
Netiquette and respect are expected at all times.
Thank you for supporting technology education at Aspen Elementary! I love working with these amazing students as they grow into safe, kind, and creative digital citizens.
