Engineer your Own Invention

  1. Follow the steps in the powerpoint below to engineer an invention of your own with a partner.

POSTER

Poster Section 1 - PROBLEM

    1. Insight Chart

    2. The problem you were trying to solve (Your needs statement)

    3. Your original design (drawing)

Poster Sections 2 & 3 - ENGINEERING

(Use the actual name of your invention as the title)
    1. Problems you came across, and improvements you made on your invention.

    2. Your reflection (you can write this as a paragraph or choose another way to represent it)

    3. Representations (pictures) of your product and how it works.

    4. The final product (3D Model).



SPEECH

Begin working on your speech for your presentation. Remember both partners need to present things equally.

  1. Speeches should:

    • Be no longer than 5 minutes (that's about 1 min 30 seconds per section)

    • Have all partners speaking an equal amount of time

    • Include each of the following:

  2. Talk about:

    • The problem/need you are trying to meet (insight chart)

    • The process of inventing (i.e. your original design, problems you came across, changes you made, etc.)

    • The final product & how it works

FINISH UP

Finishing Touches

    • Make sure you get everything glued on to your poster and your poster is looking nice and neat.

    • Practice your speech/presentation. Remember both partners need to present things equally.
