While trying to focus on our art, we need to keep a quiet space... like a library. If you need to talk to someone else about your artwork, do it in a quiet voice so others can continue to work without distraction. Save your chatting about recess or after school plans for another time. Now is the time to CREATE!
If I need to tell you something, you need to listen with your WHOLE BODY. For example, that means you put down the paintbrush and turn to look at me when I ask for your attention. If you continue to paint while trying to listen to me, one of two things is likely to happen....Â
You will keep thinking about what you are doing and won't hear what I'm saying.
You will be so focused on what I'm saying that you will make a mistake in your painting that cannot be fixed.
Treat other people the way you want to be treated.
Always ask yourself first if you would want someone to say it or do it to you... before you say it or do it! This is the most important rule in the art room... and in life!
Students receive hand sanitizer as they enter the classroom and the art room is sanitized at the end of every day. Students who are sick should rest and recover at home. The art room is a high traffic space and can accidentally be a source of germ spread to the entire school if sick students come to class.
Students can wear face coverings during art class if they wish. This is a family decision and is respected by other students and staff.
