However, you can take the basics of the idea and create a lesson for your own children. Essentially, the student builds a house out of grid paper. The grid can then be used to calculate the area and perimeter. You can create a challenge level by giving your child a set area and perimeter and telling them they have to design a house that fits those parameters.
