Our first art lesson this year is how to draw faces that show feelings. We will practice drawing faces that are happy, sad, angry, and scared (surprised). This is an integrated lesson, meaning that there are visual art and language arts parts to it. WATCH THE VIDEOS TO THE LEFT TO LEARN HOW TO DRAW FACES.
After learning how to draw faces that show feelings, each student will,
Choose one story from their own life that made them feel one of those feelings.
Draw and color a self portrait of their face showing that feeling.
Write a short story about what happened to make them feel that way. Your story needs these parts:
When - when did this happen? Which season? Day or night?
Where - where did it happen?
What - what happened?
How - how did it make you feel?
