Rules, Instructions and Rubric
Rules:
Project submission should be from a 5th or 6th grade student enrolled in Alpine School District.
Project should be about the main topic: “Code Quest:-Magical Journey.
Project should be created in CodeHS in the “Game Design” project. The project link also needs to be submitted on a form (link provided by teacher).
Project must include instructions at the beginning explaining how to play/run your project.
Project should include an Interactive Element (e.g. “when clicked” or “when key pressed”) but can also include any of the CodeHS coding blocks.
Project must be your own original work (not, copied, remixed from someone else’s project, tutorial, book, etc.). They should not be the work of an adult, teacher, coach, sibling, etc. If there is a question about originality, ASD reserves the right to have the student explain the functionality of their code.
Projects may be completed at school or at home.
Project should use the comment feature and include at least 5 comments. to explain/identify important coding sequences. (Right click in your code where you think it is necessary to explain your script and select “Add comment”)
If you include music or imported images, use the comment feature to identify the source. Don’t use copyrighted art or music. (if your project incorporates music, sounds, fonts or images/videos, you must own the rights to use that material. ASD is not responsible in any way for the use of graphics and music without legal rights (license, copyright, etc.)
Begin your project with a screen that details the instructions or sprites “saying” the instructions if they are necessary for the functionality of your program.
Simplify your code when possible. If two projects are similar in style/scoring, the one with the more efficient code will be given preference.
Test and debug your program.
No team projects are allowed.
One entry per person.
Projects submitted after the deadline will be disqualified.
Projects that contain inappropriate, overtly violent (guns/blood/gore), vulgar, or disrespectful content will be disqualified.
Prizes (Prizes subject to availability. We reserve the right to substitute items if needed.)
Every participant will receive swag for participating: 1 random Wigglet, a CODE sticker and a small treat
