You have chosen to settle in New England
Here is what life was generally like in the New England Colonies:
Geography
Long winters and rocky soil
Social
Everyone was very similar. Society was mainly one race
Political
Religious leaders also ruled the government – There were small town meetings where people could voice their opinions
Religion
Strictly religious – religion strongly affected the political, economic, and social lives of the colonists
The Puritans in the Massachusetts Bay Colony
The main group of settlers in New England belonged to the Puritan Church. They lived in the Massachusetts Bay colony. This Colony was funded by the Massachusetts Bay Company. These settlers worked very hard to establish their colony and were led by a man names John Winthrop.
In the beginning of the settlement of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, only men who belonged to the Massachusetts Bay Company could vote. Most settlers could not vote. This was then changed to all men who were members of the Puritan Church could vote. The religious leaders also were the political leaders.
In the Massachusetts Bay Colony, you could only be a member of the Puritan Religion. If you were a member of any other religion, you could not worship freely.
As governor, you now need to make a choice as to where you will settle within New England:
