You have decided to become a Royal Colony

Here are some things to remember as you create your colony:

• Your colony was originally a Proprietary Colony. This means that you were able to create laws for the colony as governor, but you needed to respect the rights of the colonists

• Your colony became a Royal Colony. This means that you gave up your control over the colony to the King of England. He appointed you to be governor

• The laws of  your Royal Colony protect religious freedom and there are local elected governments  that can create local  laws

• Your colony is made up of people from many different countries: England, Scotland, France, Ireland,  Sweden, and Finland

• Most settlers didn't care if their neighbors belonged to other religions

You can locate your colony in any of these areas:

• Anywhere in the current state of New Jersey

Pay attention to the resources in the area you choose to settle. These are the resources that your colony will be able to access.
