Welcome Back! 2023-2024 school year! Don't forget to read! Check out books from our library, use SORA, go to the public library.
This book is equally hilarious and poignant. What happens when this child blames everything else for their problems and doesn't take any responsibility? I can't wait to read this with you!
What is blaming others and how does it effect you? How does it effect those we blame? This week in the library we are diving into neuroscience and discovering how to stop the bad habit of blaming our problems on everything and everyone around us!
3 ideas to help us learn how to stop the blame game:
Work on your self-esteem
This can be hard, but the more you like yourself, the more likely you are able to take self-responsibility. People who feel good about themselves can recognize that mistakes don't define you. They actually help you learn and grow!
We are all human
Mistakes happen to all of us! If we realize that we can grow and learn from those experiences, then having self-responsibility will help you learn and grow. Plus, it helps us to be more understanding when other people make mistakes.
Growth Mindset vs. Fixed Mindset
Blaming other people for our mistakes is fixed mindset thinking & a bad habit. But, if a bad habit can be learned, it can be unlearned! A good way to unlearn blaming others and to move to a growth mindset is to:
Recognize when you blame others.
Stop yourself when you are about to blame someone or something for something you did.
Think about what happened and try to remember that mistakes happen and it's okay!
This will help to re-wire your brain to get rid of that bad habit. Remember, blaming others for our mistakes and problems is a fixed mindset. "I learn from my mistakes and they make me smarter".
