Welcome!
Welcome to sixth grade. I am very excited for this year and hope that all of you are, too! Throughout this school year you will be assigned books to read at home, be required to construct written responses based on the readings, and reflect on the books. These assignments are designed to improve reading skills and habits and practice using evidence from a text to support claims. In addition to novels, we will have math homework to support classroom learning and complete a monthly article analysis (current event) for social studies. Current Events:
Each month students are required to complete a Current Event. During class this week we completed a Current Event paper together and took notes on expectations. Each student should have a copy of this in his/her Math Binders in the Homework section. Below is a link to the website students have been instructed to use while completing their Current Event. If, for whatever reason, a student is not able to complete this at home I am available each morning before school from 7:30-8:00 and after school from 2:30-4:00. During this time students may come into my classroom and use the school chromes to complete this assignment.
