Rotations
Given the rigor of the sixth grade curriculum, each subject is taught by a different teacher. This is an advantage to students since each teacher is allowed to spend time doing subject specific preparation and research.
Homework
As sixth grade teachers we can't emphasize the importance of nightly homework enough. We assign homework for two main reasons.
1. The sixth grade curriculum is vast and rigorous. Time constraints do not allow us to give students adequate independent practice during the school day. Independent practice is essential for mastery and proficiency.
2. Establishing a habit/routine of completing homework assignments nightly and turning them in the next day is an important component in preparing students for junior high.
Therefore, we ask for your support in encouraging your child to complete his/her nightly homework while practicing independently at home.
