Considerations for IT Strategy Development
The All of Us Office of Finance and Management (OF&M) team followed a Discovery and Research Process for examining the current IT infrastructure and systems at All of Us. The team gathered feedback and analyzed the quantitative and qualitative data collected to understand the overall sentiments for each system, how they work, who uses them, and how they operate and are maintained.
This Discovery and Research Process included the following:
Interviews of 18 staff members (2020 IT Assessment)
All of Us Software Application Data Call (November 2021)
Cost and availability of current All of Us systems
Comparisons to industry standards
IT Management Maturity Assessment (Ascertaining whether the process is: In existence, Repeatable, Defined, Managed, Scalable)
Our internal IT Strategy must be aligned with the All of Us Five Year Goals to ensure informed decision making, and that everyone is working towards the same goals
Our internal IT Strategy must be aligned with OF&M's Goals to ensure synchronous efforts
Our internal IT Strategy must be aligned with industry best practices for building mature IT systems
Our systems and processes must be intuitive and scalable; thus, providing the best customer service to All of Us staff
By leveraging the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework, we have established an IT Strategy for All of Us that focuses on our needs and aligns with our goals
We will then use Stage Gate to plan, develop, and implement the identified objectives and processes from this internal IT Strategy
