Location: Northern Tacloban, Tacloban City, Eastern Visayas, Region 8, Philippines.
Cost: Free! We provide three meals a day on each working day and accommodation for the duration of your stay. We don't provide food on your day off. Volunteers are responsible for all other expenses, including travel.
Work Days: 6 days a week (Monday - Saturday)
Arrival Days: Monday to Fridays before 5:00 pm. We are not able to accomodate arrivals on other days
Accommodation: You can expect communal-style living with bunk beds and dormitory rooms. You will need to provide your own bedding (sleeping bag, air mattress, blankets, pillows etc.)
Weather: The typhoon season in the Philippines usually lasts between June and October. If you are arriving at that time, be prepared for a lot of rain, mud, and humidity! It's recommended to bring a raincoat and waterproof boots (with steel toes) for the site.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided during work days. Vegetarian diets can be accommodated upon request, but any other dietary preferences (vegan, gluten-free, etc.) should bring food or other items to supplement their meals. Please make sure to select this option in the waiver or inform your Volunteer Coordinator before arriving at the program
VEGETARIANS! Please note that if you are eating out, most of the items listed in the veggie section of menus have meat in them. Always ask if it contains meat or inform your waiter that you are vegetarian
WiFi: Not provided on the base. Volunteers can use their own data to browse the internet. Please find more information in the Electricity and Internet section.
Access: One hour drive from the airport to our base.
