THE BASE

Base is where you will live, eat and play during your time on program! It is communal living at its finest. Some call it rustic, others call it home.  Base is usually co-ed bunk style dorm rooms with assorted common areas for eating and relaxing.
Our Program Development Team is hard at work securing a base for our volunteers.
Please check back soon for more information!

ACCOMODATIONS & FACILITIES

Our base is located on a summer camp/retreat property. The campground includes a main lodge communal area, kitchen, office, restrooms, bath houses, and bunk houses.

Bunkhouses: Volunteers will sleep in coed cabins with bunk beds. Our largest bunkhouse sleeps 16, while other bunkhouses will sleep between 4 and 8 individuals.

Bunks and mattresses are provided, however, the mattresses are thin. A sleeping bag may be helpful for added comfort. Additionally, you will need to bring your own bedding-- ie. sheets, pillowcases, blankets.

Bathhouse: There are 6 showers in total available for use. Hot water may not be available.

Kitchen facilities: Volunteers can use the kitchen to prepare food. Personal food can be stored on shelves or in the fridge.

Laundry: A washer and dryer are available to use on base

Tents: If you would like to bring your own tent to sleep in, we have space for it! Please note, that there are a lot of ticks and mosquitoes in the area. There are also bears.

ELECTRICITY AND INTERNET

There is no cell service on the base. Staff will try to provide wifi in the evenings. Depending on the number of users at once, wifi may be slow.

Only some of the bunk houses have electricity. Due to this, a portable power bank is strongly recommended if you need to charge your devices.

There will be power sockets in the bunkhouses with electricity that are available for you to charge your electronics. However, we can not guarantee there will be a socket close to your bed. If you regularly need to charge your device you may want to bring a power bank with you.

Staff can provide a laptop or phone if you need to contact a family member. Laptops and phones will also be available to anyone in isolation.  If you regularly need a computer or phone for personal use we recommend bringing your own.

In the U.S. the power plugs and sockets are of type A and B. The standard voltage is 120 V and the standard frequency is 60 Hz. If necessary, please ensure you purchase a power adapter to charge your electrical items.

FOOD

We provide three meals a day during the five work days each week. Volunteers are responsible for their own meals on non-work days (Sunday).

Breakfast typically includes oats, bagels, toast, jam, peanut butter, cream cheese, coffee, and tea. You will pack your own lunch, typically sandwiches and fruit. A hot dinner will be prepared nightly.

Vegetarian diets can be accommodated but vegans and those with specific dietary requirements will need to supplement what we can provide with items they bring or source and purchase themselves. You will be able to store personal food items on the shelves and in the fridge, and you will be able to use the kitchen whenever meals for base are not being prepared.
