How many volunteers are on base at once? Up to 10 volunteers are housed on this base at any one time; this can vary over the course of the program. 

Do I need any vaccinations? We strongly encourage all staff and residential volunteers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and Influenza. This is to help minimize the risk of requiring hospitalization during illness and to avoid taking valuable health resources away from the local community. We also recommend our volunteers consult with a medical professional before travelling. As every individual has their own health needs and levels of acceptable risk, we encourage you to work with your medical professional to decide on the best preventative measures for you. An up-to-date Tetanus vaccination is highly recommended.

Can I extend my stay once I’m there? We encourage you to extend your stay with us. Providing there is availability, you are welcome to extend. If this is something you may be interested in, consider initially purchasing a one-way ticket or a flexible return ticket. 

Can I leave the program early? You are welcome to adjust your dates if you need to leave our program earlier than expected. However, we ask that you let us know as soon as you need to make a change so we can plan work in the field accordingly.  if an unexpected circumstance arises, we will do all that we can to support you if you need to return home. 

Will there be time to rest? The work week will run from Monday to Friday, and everyone will take Saturday and Sunday off work to rest. In addition to the weekends, staff and volunteers will take a mandatory two day break every 30 days to allow time for physical and mental rest. 

Can I bring anything for the program? We have a wishlist where you can find our most needed items!

How do I confirm my spot on the program? To confirm your spot, please complete the volunteer service agreement, volunteer waiver, and travel form  in your invitation email. 

How am I getting to program? Volunteers are responsible for arranging their travel to and from the program, and covering all costs associated. Please see our travel to program page for more information.
