THE BASICS

Location: Our base will be located in Marsh Harbour on the island of Grand Abaco in The Bahamas

Closest Airport: Leonard M Thompson International Airport (Marsh Harbour)

Cost: While there is no fee to volunteer, you will need funds for expenses such as travel, food on days off, snacks outside meal time and any on-island excursions. The Bahamas is considered one of the most expensive countries in the world, so we recommend budgeting accordingly. Here you can read more about the cost of living in the Bahamas. All Hands and Hearts provides accommodations and 3 meals a day on the days you are working.

Work Days: We work 6 days a week on our international programs. Some Saturdays may be half days, with work finishing after lunch.

Arrival Days: We can only accept new volunteer arrivals on Monday before 6:00 pm.

Accommodation: We provide communal style co-ed living accommodation in bunk beds, but volunteers are required to provide their own bedding.

Meals: Breakfast and lunch foods are provided for your own preparation, and dinner will be provided to you. Vegetarian diets can be accommodated.

WiFi: We do not provide WiFi for volunteers. Volunteers should expect to purchase a local SIM card and data plan through a Bahamas telecom carrier, such as Aliv.

Access: The island of Abaco is still recovering from Hurricane Dorian. Supplies are generally available (groceries, restaurants, laundry facilities, ATMs, etc.), but they are sometimes operating at a limited capacity. Volunteers should expect to pay much higher prices in the Bahamas for basic amenities.
