FUNDRAISING AND DONATIONS

WHY WE'D LOVE YOU TO FUNDRAISE FOR US

As you know, donations are crucial to the success of our programs because they fund the essential work we are undertaking worldwide. That is just the tip of the iceberg, though! Fundraising does so many more amazing things.

Firstly, it is the most authentic form of advocacy. When you ask your friends and family to support our cause, you send the signal that you trust the organisation and believe in our work. You are also raising awareness about the long-term impact of the disasters. Additionally, you inspire others to take action through volunteering or donating. A quarter of all our volunteers heard about us from other volunteers, which shows how powerful your fundraising posts on social media or messages to a family can be. Last but not least, you are giving back. You are helping us offset some of the costs of hosting volunteers for our programs by raising funds. Because of all of the above-mentioned reasons, volunteer fundraising is vital for the sustainability of running our programs and the entire organisation!

ALL HANDS AND HEARTS

OUR STORY The lives of founders David Campbell and Petra Nemcova were changed forever by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. In 2005, David started All Hands Volunteers and Petra established Happy Hearts Fund. In 2017, these organizations merged to form All Hands and Hearts, allowing more donor support to directly benefit disaster-affected communities.

OUR MISSION We effectively and efficiently address the immediate and long-term needs of communities impacted by natural disasters. We communicate directly with local leaders and community members and then deploy our unique model of engaging volunteers to enable direct impact, helping to build safer, more resilient schools, homes and infrastructure.

OUR VISION Through volunteer and community engagement, we focus on helping families recover faster after natural disasters using our Smart Response strategy. In doing so, we strengthen both our volunteers and the communities in which we serve.

What's the role of volunteer FUNDRAISING?

'Since 2015 volunteers like you raised in total more than $4,3 mln through peer-to-peer fundraising.'

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we rely solely on donations to undertake our stated mission of helping those affected by a natural disaster. Therefore, the single greatest challenge and risk to the organization comes from funding. The nature of our mission requires us to quickly deploy to a location where we often have zero infrastructure and offer services to aid affected communities. This makes for an audacious business model — we are not always able to secure funding for our projects before we can commit to them, and we are often working with the knowledge of a gap in funds.

This is where volunteer fundraising comes into play. Back in 2015, we identified that the stories we share about communities affected by natural disasters, and our work that supports their journey back to normality, resonate with many people. It’s through volunteers like you, who have the power to reach out to your friends and family and gain support, that enables us to keep providing much-needed assistance in affected areas and live up to our commitment of ‘come early and stay late’. You are the connection between a new potential pool of donors and our organization. Since 2015 volunteers like you raised in total more than $4,3 mln through peer-to-peer fundraising. This shows that your effort really makes a difference!
