Academic Planning Guide
All sports teams have a try-out process with the exception of football, track, and cross country. This is an environment where an athlete competes on a team. Good sportsmanship as well as athletic skills is stressed. A COMPLETE PHYSICAL IS REQUIRED EACH YEAR FOR ALL STUDENTS ENTERING ATHLETICS. All students must meet UIL guidelines for eligibility. Volleyball and Basketball placement will be determined by the individual schools. Athletics may be used as a PE credit.
If students did not participate in athletics or make a team in 7th grade, they will need an Athletic Coordinator’s approval to enroll into the athletic period for 8th grade and to try out for a team. If they are not enrolled in the athletic class period, they still have the opportunity to try out for a team after school. If they make the team, they would be placed in the athletic period.
Students that do not make the team for tryout sports (Volleyball, Basketball, Tennis and Golf) and are not trying out for additional sports that school year will have their schedules changed immediately.

2025-2026 Allen Middle School Athletics Commitment Policy
This commitment letter is to clarify the expectations of the athlete for Allen ISD Athletic Programs. This letter will help the family and athlete understand what is expected of them and what consequences exist if those expectations are not met. It is a privilege to participate in athletics and when behaviors and expectations are not met then a loss of privileges and or discipline will result. First and foremost, if the athlete does not pass a class at the end of their grading period they do not play-NO exceptions. If there is discipline, attitude or unbecoming actions in the classroom, athletics, any school function or social media, the following actions will be taken:
1. O. T. I. (Opportunity To Improve) will be issued (i.e.: running, pushups, bear crawls, lunges, plate pushes etc...)
2. Parent/Family/Guardian will be contacted
3. A loss of athletic privileges will be determined if applicable
As a member of the Allen ISD Athletic Program each student-athlete will be expected to adhere to the following guidelines that may be above and beyond what is expected in the AISD Student Code of Conduct:
1. If an athlete is going to be absent from school and or practice the athlete must notify the coaches prior to the absence via phone or email.
2. Family/Doctor’s Notes: Family notes are accepted for an athlete to sit out of practice due to an illness/injury for a maximum of 3 days. After 3 days a note from a doctor or trainer will be required indicating the injury and anticipated inactivity. If after the 3 days we do not have a doctor’s note an OTI will be given for each missed practice.
3. Late to practice, late to class from the athletics period or otherwise (skipping/ditching), any unexcused absences will result in an OTI or dismissal from the athletics class.
4. School athletics and participation in those practices and events comes before a team, group or organization not associated with Allen ISD.
5. No jewelry or backpacks will be allowed during practices or games; personal electronic devices (phones) are not to be used in the locker rooms, the locker room at school is a private area shared with teammates and infringement on that privacy will not be tolerated.
6. Excessive school lunch detention (10 or more), ISS or other detention will result in an OTI or loss of privileges.
7. Athletes assigned to ISS (In School Suspension) will lose all extracurricular privileges for each school day in ISS.
8. All athletes will be required to dress out appropriately according to Allen ISD Athletic Coaches on a daily basis (proper haircut, workout clothes and shoes, shirts will be tucked in…) otherwise incomplete dress is equal to not participating and being absent without an excuse.
9. Any damaged or lost equipment of the student is expected to be paid for prior to returning to participation.
10. All athletes travel together to athletic events on the school bus. Poor bus behavior can result in loss of athletic privileges
11. Harassment/bullying/fighting or intent to physically or psychologically harm another student in real-time or online (virtually, using social media) will result in OTI and could result in loss of athletic privileges.
12. Inappropriate social media behavior or digital communication will earn OTI and/or the loss of athletic privileges.
13. Locker room theft or disregard for items that do not belong to you can result in loss of athletic privileges.
14. The locker room/weight room areas must be kept clean. All items must be locked in the athlete’s locker to prevent theft. Locker checks will be made and OTIs will be issued if this is not followed (no aerosols, glass or other contraband). No food or drink in the locker rooms. Parents are not allowed in student athlete locker rooms at any time during the school year.
15. Concerns or problems will be addressed in this order:
a. Athlete/coach
b. Athlete/parent or guardian/coach.
c. Athlete/parent or guardian/coach/ Campus athletic coordinator
