I am so excited to be teaching 6th grade Language Arts this year! I LOVE being a teacher! This is the eve of my thirty and one-half years in teaching. All of my previous and current experience is with middle school students in the area of Language Arts. I have taught in Covington City (½), Bath County (9), and in Alleghany County (20). With this experience, I feel confident that we will have a successful year together.

My birthday is Febrauary 21, and I will be 60 in 2021. I love to grow my faith, listen to music, read, go to dinner with family and friends, travel, drink coffee, water, and sweet tea. I like to watch movies, learn new things, walk, work, surf Facebook, and play word games. Vanilla, chocolate, butterscotch, cinnamon, and caramel are some of my favorite flavors. I like most any foods, but I love Italian, Mexican, and home-cooking the best! I LOVE the beach!

I live in Covington. I am divorced (Jones is my maiden name), and the mother to Jeana (Denise) Lee Colberg and Richard “Ricky” Eugene Lee, Jr. My daughter is 33, married to Dustin, an Electrophysiology Nurse for a Cardiology group at Children’s Hospital, lives in Pittsburgh, and is a mother to Lily the cat! My son is forever 24, lives in heaven, and was a 1st Lt Military Policeman in the United States Army.

My Mom and Dad live here in Alleghany County and own two farms and a business.

Being the oldest of four children is a great joy and responsibility in my life. My sisters live here in Alleghany County. One, Sonya, is a retired hairdresser and owns her own beauty salon, and the other, Jaclyn, is starting her first full year (she taught a 1/2 year last year in 3rd grade) as a 4th grade teacher at Callaghan Elementary. They are both married, and they have made me an aunt to three nephews. My only brother, Perry, lives in Glen Allen outside of Richmond, and he has a home here in Alleghany County. He is an electrical engineer for a private company. He is divorced, and he has made me an aunt to two nephews and one niece.

I belong to four professional organizations (Virginia State Literacy Association, Shenandoah Valley Literacy Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Virginia Professional Educators) and serve in leaderships positions in the first three. I serve in the Education First Community Group of the Alleghany Highlands as the Recommendation #6 chairperson. I am a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church, and I am one of the adult Sunday School teachers. I serve as a committee chair on the Session. Interestingly, I also serve on the Covington City School Board.
