Celebrating the 50th Day of School in 50's Style
West Elementary
On Thursday, October 25, the students at West Elementary celebrated the 50th day of school in 50’s style! The students came to school dressed in poodle skirts, rolled up jeans, and letter sweaters! Classes compared the 1950s to today, read Dick and Jane books, and learned about many inventions from the 1950s, such as the color TV. Each grade level was challenged to collect 50 food items to donate to the local food shelf. Classes held a hula hoop contest, and the day concluded with a sock hop and root beer floats!

No Longer a Mystery!
It has been revealed that our Mystery Skype partners are from Western Middle School in Jackson, Michigan!
Mr. Bulman and Mrs. Snitker, in collaboration with Bev Berns from Keystone AEA, entered the Mystery Skype challenge. Seventh grade geography students have been meeting with sixth graders from Western Middle School. Our challenge, using clues written by the students, was to figure out where our partners were located.

Cannons at the Fort
8th grade students from Waukon Junior High experienced hands-on-learning during their September field trip to Cannons at the Fort.
The day included moving through stations with various Civil War reenactments.
Lake Meyer Digital Science Journal
The second graders enjoyed a day at Lake Meyer in Winneshiek County. We went on a nature hike and learned a lot about different plants and wildlife.
The students helped create a PowerPoint project that we converted into a narrated Photo Story.
The students did an excellent job showing their understanding for all the information that Ranger Larry Reis shared with us.
