My main goal this year is to get students to become more independent thinkers. What you see listed below will help us work towards achieving this overall goal.
Yearlong Goals:
Develop your mathematical skills and understanding of 6th grade concepts
Improve your ability to think and problem solve
Become more confident and become a stronger collaborator and communicator

Materials needed for class each day:
1.5-2 inch binder complete with folder and loose leaf paper
***IF you wish to get a larger binder and use it for multiple classes, please have a separate tab for math
Pencils
Large pink eraser
3 Pens in various colors
Highlighters
Dry erase markers
Dry erase board eraser or clean sock
Ear buds

When You Arrive to Class: Daily Class Procedures:
Walk into class quietly. 1. Warm up
Get needed material out and ready 2. Review independent work
Start your warm up 3. New material
4. Wrap up
Grade Percentages:
Independent work: Freckle, homework, classwork, coming to class prepared 25%
Formative: Quizzes / single standard assessments/ notebook checks 35%
Summative: Topic Tests/Unit Assessments/Projects -multiple standard assessments 40%
Attendance and Absences:
Attendance will be taken each day.
Students are required to complete all assignments and independent work by their due dates.
If a student is sick and is unable to complete the work, he/she will be allowed one day per day of absence to make up daily assignments. Arrangements may be made for extended absences.
Students are to check the Google Classroom for all assignments and notes.
Homework/Classroom Assignments:
All assignments must be fully completed and turned in on-time to earn full credit.
Homework is given M-Th and is due on Friday for the week.
Late work: will receive maximum grade of 80% - This includes online work
Counts as an “independent work” grade.
*IXLs require 85% mastery; Students can get 5 points. extra credit for reaching 100%
Test and Quiz Corrections:
Students have the opportunity to earn back half their points by doing test/quiz corrections. All test/quiz retakes must be completed within 1 week.
All corrections need to be labeled with the corresponding test/quiz number.
Rewrite the problem.
Students MUST show all the work to receive credit.
Submit the corrections and the original test/quiz within 1 week.
