OUTDOOR CLASSROOM RULES
TEACH your students these rules and monitor students as they work, play, and clean up.
The teacher or an assigned student(s) should check the sheds to be sure materials are returned properly and that the sheds are locked. *
Treat the outdoor classroom as you would your indoor classroom. The space is used for learning as well as play. Please be mindful of others, especially of teachers who are giving instruction. Remind your students to do the same.
Students should use the gravel paths when moving from one station to another. Walking is recommended.
Use the space towards the rear of the outdoor classroom (the meadow, fitness path, and open area in front of the pavilion) for running. No running on the wheeled toy track. It is to be used for wheeled toys only.
Loose parts such as sticks, pine cones, shells, tree cookies, etc. may be taken to other stations for use.
Please return them when you are finished.
Sand should stay in the sand tables, landscape stones stay in the large box in the Dirt and Digging station.
The logs and stumps around the perimeter of the Messy Materials Station should not be moved or used for building. They are a permanent boundary for the space.
Wooden railings (Climbing Adventure, Gathering Area, and bridge) are not to be used to sit on or climb on.
Tricycles are to be used only by upk and kindergarten students. Scooters are to be used only by first and second grade students. Wheeled toys are for use on the Wheeled Toy Track only.
Last classroom to leave the outdoor classroom is responsible for making sure all items are put away and the sheds are locked.
These rules are in place so that all may enjoy learning and playing in the outdoor classroom.
