Transcripts are an integral part of the application process and may be obtained from the Counseling Center. Prospective students that are no longer in high school may contact the Counseling Center by email at Rchouinard@alexandercsd.org or by calling (585) 591-1551 ext. 2051 to request that their transcript be sent. Most colleges request that transcripts come directly from the school that is furnishing it.
College applications are, for the most part, filled out online. The Common App is one application for multiple schools, it is the best place to start for 90% of colleges. If students are applying to a Trade School or Community College, they should start on the Colleges website.
College entrance exams include the ACT and SAT. These are usually taken during students Junior year of high school. Students will need to register on-line for these tests and they will need our high school code: 330110. Most colleges are now " test optional" meaning they do not require an entrance exam. Please refer to each colleges website for more information on entrance exams.
Financial Aid is applied for. Most financial aid falls under FAFSA (Free Application Federal Student Aid) and TAP (Tuition Assistance Program). The FAFSA is now open October 1st. The counseling office hosts a Financial Aid night at the high school. This usually takes place in October or November, students and parents will be notified of date and time via parent square. Scholarships can greatly offset the cost of college. The best place to start looking for scholarships is on the colleges website, these are where the biggest scholarships are offered. The second best place to look is under the Scholarships tab above.
