Clients in need of assistance come to Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry (GHCCM) for help in a crisis or for on-going life circumstances. Assistance can include: eviction prevention, utility disconnection prevention, crisis financial aid, referrals to outside community agencies and churches, gas vouchers, and care repairs. All financial assistance is given on a case by case basis depending on funding available. GHCCM also offers medical/dental services.

Also if additional assistance is needed, please see your school social worker for pantry or backpack program needs. Alexander Central High School has a food pantry open to Alexander County Schools' students. Also, a backpack program is offered for students and families who are in need. The backpack program offers families with free groceries for the weekend and school breaks. Food backpacks usually include easy-to-prepare/kid friendly meals. School may limit one per family.
