Hi! My name is Ava Cox, and I have been working as the Purchasing intern under Sam Terranova in Div 685. This Week I have been working on my daily Coupa tasks. This includes matching purchase orders with the vendor's order acknowledgement. I am also writing up purchase orders for different job sites which need to have the item name, vendor in which we are buying it from, and billing/shipping. Plus, when a new vendor is needed to be added to Coupa, I have the job of taking the vendor's W9 and filling out our new vendor forms to send to the person who implements it into Coupa. I also created tax certificates for different vendors on some of our non tax jobs which involves going into the h drive and finding the folder with the information for that jobsite. I fill out the PDF and add it into the existing folder with that vendor's name as the title.
Specifically this week, I filled out the end of the internship survey which I reflected on this summer and my mentor. We also had our presentations and the cubs game which was fun to be around the other interns one last time.
Hello everyone, I'm Antonio Mitchell and I have recently been working on the Meta DKL site in Dekalb, IL. I am a part of the safety department and my role is to work with everyone on site to evaluate hazards and risks, and establish best practices that assists in mitigating those hazards. As a safety advisor, I get to balance my work between getting on site and seeing different operations going on and working within an office to improve administrative safety initiatives. This week, I focused on furthering my knowledge in safety through re-taking an OSHA 10 construction class. I also did a few safety walks to see what operations were going on at the moment and what risks may be involved. Administratively, I did a SafetyNet after a site-walk to record what risks I noticed and what behaviors call for positive reinforcement as both are equally important. Thanks, and stay safe!
Hi everyone! My name is McKenna Hall and I am the 2023 Marketing Intern. Working under Jen Hudock has allowed me to understand everyday life as a marketing specialist. Finishing off my last week at Aldridge lets me reflect on my weeks before.
As an intern, I have learned many tasks from search engine optimization to analytics from services such as MailChimp. Working in a team of six, my group has allowed me to peek into other marketing specialties such as business development and graphic design.
My favorite task completed within the past weeks has been designing content for the Women of Aldridge event. This task not only allowed me to use my creative capabilities, but also let me dive into the world of construction by viewing all the women we have on the A-team! . Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the event, but I am excited to see the final turnout!
This has been a summer to remember and I am grateful for this experience Aldridge has given me!
Hello, my name is William Czech and this summer I have been working in Division 740 as a development intern under John Chimienti in Libertyville. I have had the opportunity to work with members of the development team as well as the Agile department on several data related tasks. So far, I have gathered company data from our online SQL server into Tableau reports so it can be presented to other employees, and have also worked in confirming the data in various Tableau reports is accurate using SQL. Additionally, I have been working on a data analytics project where I am seeking to understand which aspects of Aldridge jobs have an impact on profitability. Throughout this process, my mentor, John, as well as other members of the development team have been very helpful in assisting me to complete these tasks. The experience I have most enjoyed this summer has been talking with the development team about different ways to utilize Aldridge data. It has been a very interesting and fast paced summer thus far, and I feel I have learned a lot.
Hey everyone, my name is Maeve Hartnett. This summer I have been working as the Talent Management Intern, specifically within the recruiting department, with my mentor Katie McMahon. I have gotten the opportunity to get a better understanding of both recruiting and onboarding side of Talent Management. I have helped onboard new union hires within Cornerstone., and ran the intern website.
During my internship, I have been able to get a clear, first hand experience at how talent management is conducted within Aldridge. I have been able to sit in on the screening process, assist with running events, and see each angle this department has to offer. I have loved my internship at Aldridge, and I am extremely grateful for this opportunity that has given me more clarity on what I was to pursue in my future career!
My name is Luke Walker, and I have been working as an estimating intern under Rob Selin and Christopher Madden in division 760. This summer has been an amazing experience as I have worked on various jobs throughout multiple departments including EHRM infrastructure upgrades, drilling jobs, some tollway work and street lighting projects. I have been primarily focused on doing takeoffs for these jobs using Bluebeam, whether that being finding lengths of cable running through buildings, or calculating pounds of rebar that is going to be needed for tollway work. Some of my other responsibilities include, creating pricing sheets, price quoting, and contacting subcontractors. I have also participated in some pre-bid walkthroughs where estimators get a better understanding of the scope of work and can see where the actual work will be taking place. As well as sitting in on executive bid reviews as we finalized bid packages to be approved before they are sent out. While working in the estimating department I have learned how much work goes into jobs way before construction even begins.
