Hi everyone! I am Pratik Bhatkar, working as a Project Management Intern in Division - 580 (National Pursuits) with my mentor Mike Gratz. Our team at the Washington DC office is working on one of the megaprojects of Aldridge Electric for WMATA (Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority) tasked to install Fiber Optic Infrastructure and Metro Box Enclosure in the DC metro rail system. We are working as contractors along with our joint venture partner C3M Power systems. Working at CAJV (a C3M Aldridge Joint Venture) location has provided me with a unique opportunity to acquire knowledge from diverse companies and immerse myself in their organizational cultures.
Over the past 7 weeks I have had the privilege of attending multiple job site walks thus far, and each time has been an incredible experience. It has allowed me to witness results of the work I do in the office, bringing a sense of fulfillment and deeper understanding to my role. I am assisting Mike in various tasks such as creating design matrix, tracking project progress through the project trackers, DJRs (Daily Job Reports) and Procore submittals, which is aimed to update baseline schedule in Primavera P6. Additionally, I am working on Potential Change Order log comparison which is a Change management task.
Apart from Mike, I am working with Abuzar Mir (PM) in building up a project knowledge database and marking up 90% submittal drawings of K-line to make them 100% as-builts. He introduced me to Google Earth Pro and uGRIDD (a web based geo-referencing platform for infrastructure data using LiDAR, photo/video, CAD/BIM, aerials), furthermore I would be involved in creating project workflow charts using MS Visio. I am helping Taimur Shah (APM), in cost code mapping of customer supplied 60% drawings for the DC metro E-line using Bluebeam Revu and uGRIDD, and working with Greg Gzehoviak (Project Director) and Tara Earley (SPM) to create a project dashboard for the entire DC metro lines, which is aimed to provide visual progress of the project. Overall, I am touching bases on every aspect of the project, and I am delighted that I was able to learn so much in this brief period.
