What’s up everyone! My name is Matthew Plizga and I’m a project management intern working under Peter Kenny in division 532. The main project I’ve been working on is the CTA Congress Line Phase II. Unfortunately, this project is in the pre-construction phase which means I spend most of my time in the office. At the office I’ve been doing all kinds of different things that a PM would do before the start of construction. Some things I have been doing are takeoffs, submittals, material planning, schedule of values, look over contracts, and contact vendors/suppliers. Pre-construction can be slow at times so I got sent to the estimating team for a week. With the estimating team I helped with takeoffs that were used to bid for a QTS Database project down in Georgia near Atlanta. The first picture is where my project will take place in the future. Right now they are working on phase I. The second and third picture are from a jobsite I got to visit located on 63rd Street.
I have been learning a lot during this summer and can’t wait to use these skills in the future once I become a full time project manager.
