Hello, my name is Manny Garcia, and I'm a member of the West Coast's 514 Division. This is my first summer with Aldridge and I am fortunate to be working from the jobsite trailer and being able to visit the jobsite at least once a day. I am working under Joshua Crocker on the POLA (Port of Los Angeles) and currently we are in M2 phase working on the TELs (Truck Exchange Lanes). Finding a recycling facility that can obtain 1600 cubic yards of dirt is one of the responsibilities I have been given. We are currently planning a day to transport the dirt from the jobsite to the recycling facility, which is just about 20 miles away. I have also obtained certifications from Procore which is a software used to manage the project here at POLA. POD (Plan of Day), which entails asking a foreman about what each worker will be doing on the jobsite, is a daily responsibility that I have taken over which is creating a excel sheet to send out to the team. I also joined a HOOT shift, which runs from three in the morning to six in the morning. This shift was necessary because it was the only time the automated container cranes are turned off, allowing people to work in those automated areas. While the past three weeks at POLA have been pretty thrilling, I am looking forward to the remainder of this summer.
