My summer internship has been off to a great start. I have been spending just as much time in the office, as out in the field. My time in the office has been spent doing a handful of tasks. I have done force accounts, filling out forms and creating packets for extra work done on the job. I have also spent a lot of time collaborating with the field engineer on the project to create dig tickets, material tracking documents, and staying up to date on field work on a day-to-day basis.
I have been able to learn a lot from being in the field while work is being done. So far, I have seen how grounding is installed, handholes being proofed, and power cables being pulled. I enjoy being in the field, because it allows me to see what things look like firsthand and not just on paper through the plans. The crew of laborers have been extremely helpful, explaining things to me and answering any questions I have.
