This summer I have been working with Brandon Padilla in the building trades division 532. Our team is doing the P828 Smart Energy Upgrade at the Great Lakes Naval Station in Great Lakes, IL (North Chicago). Aldridge is the general contractor for this project, so we have the responsibility of executing on a large variety of scopes including: electrical, communications, architectural, minimal design, mechanical, etc. The main objective is to install new fiber optic telecommunication cabling around the 1,628 acre base and into some of the 1,153 buildings on the base. The project is in the first phase of work. In this phase the electricians are proofing the existing conduit runs and pulling innerduct fiber lining in the ducts which will protect the fiber cabling when it is installed. We also have some electricians working inside of the buildings to run conduit.
