Abel Arellano 

Hey everyone, my name is Abel Arellano and I am a project management intern working under Brooks Gahart in the 532 Building Trades Division. I am currently working on site at Dresden Lock and Dam in Morris, IL. The project is fast paced and there is a great amount of work being done in a short amount of time. Since being on this project, I have learned how to submit ship tickets, create RFI’s and work on submittals. Being on site every day, has given me the opportunity to visually understand the work that is being done such as miter gates being recessed and mitered, cable being demo’ed, the drainage of the lock chamber, and installation of temp power across the job site.

Overall, being on this project has given me a better understanding of the construction industry

and the plan of action that needs to take place to ensure the project runs its best.
