Alden School is in the preliminary stages of the planning process for a new playground. Committee members are researching ways to make the current playground space more usable and accessible. With the current layout, one side of the playground has a large, dirt slope and the playground area has multiple grade levels with pavement and wood chips. A level, poured rubber surface would create more open space for play structures and potentially create a new paved area for basketball, four square and a sensory path.
On November 28th, the 5th grade Student Council met with a Playground Designer from O'Brien and Sons to discuss what they like about the current playground and what they think would be great for a future playground at Alden School. Slides, swings, climbing structures, net climbing structures, monkey bars and a basketball court were high on the list for the new playground!
