Classroom Information
Routines and General Information
Our primary form of communication is ClassDojo. However, feel free to text, call, reach out on social media, or email if it's preferable. Texting and messaging through Dojo is the most effective way to communicate regularly. If there is something pressing, please call the office. While our school posts announcements through Dojo Stories, you can also find announcements on Facebook, Instagram, and our school website. Weekly letters and occassionally class work will be sent home every Friday in your child’s Friday folder. It is important to bring these back before every Friday, so we can put new items that need to go home in them for the upcoming week. A great deal of work in the classroom will not be in a paper and pencil format to send home. ClassDojo is working on creating portfolio capabilities and we also use Google Classroom, so a great deal of work and projects will be available to view online. Homework consists of reading every night for 20 minutes and practicing math facts for fluency for about 10 minutes. Sometimes, there might be work for projects sent home that will have an assigned due date. For behavior, our class uses ClassDojo, in which a separate letter will include detailed information. ClassDojo actually allows you to check on your student’s behavior in real time. We also have a school-wide behavior policy focused on leadership. I will contact you directly your child receives a fix-it or has any serious issues. There will be a calendar sent home with our Specials rotation. This is particularly useful for knowing when to bring library books back and making sure to wear tennis shoes for Gym.
