Week of 5.11.2020
This week's Activities are focused on Forgiveness, Empathy and Joy. What do you think these words mean?
What does it mean to forgive someone?
Discuss empathy with your family and then complete the activity
Joy is finding a way to be happy even when things don’t go your way.
HOPE
Big Idea of the Month: Hope is believing that something good can come out of something bad.
When people are hopeful they envision the end result and work towards it. They take care of themselves and the result is a better outcome. Hopeful people smile and laugh more. Smiling and laughing contribute to a feeling of happiness and hopefulness.
I HOPE you think about what can bring you a bright future. Don’t forget looking for the silver lining everyday can keep you focused on hope and gratitude, no matter the situation.
Color of the Month: Purple is considered the color of Hope.
Animal of the Month: The Butterfly can be a symbol of Hope. When butterfly eggs hatch, the caterpillar lives on leaves until it begins to change into a butterfly. The caterpillar has hope of changing from a wiggly worm into a beautiful butterfly.
Week #1 - Discuss hope with your child and tell about a time when you had hope. What is your hope? Have your child write down what is their hope.
Week #2 -(Roleplay) You say “ the animal of the month is the Butterfly which shows the definition of hope. Now we are going to put hope in action.” Explain to your child they are going to create a motion or movement to represent hope and let them present their motion to the family.
