Precalculus

Google Classroom:

Each class has its own google classroom. This will be the home base for schedule, announcements, homework assignments, test review information, etc. (Mr. Galloway will help you get logged in on the first day.)

Precalc 2018-2019 Google Classroom

Each class also has a google photo album, where I will store daily pictures of the whiteboard notes.

Precalc Notes 2018-2019

Calculators:

A graphing calculator is required for all students in Precalculus and AP Calculus.*

A graphing calculator is recommended for students in Algebra II (especially if you are planning on going on to PreCalc or AP Calc anyway).*

*Please note that if there’s any reason you are unable to provide your own graphing calculator, just let me know and we’ll get you one some other way. It will be kept totally confidential - just shoot me an email and I’ll take care of it!

A note on what calculator to buy:

My recommendation is the TI-84 Plus CE, but other options may work as well if you have a hand-me-down from an older sibling or something. Just ask and I'll help you figure it out.

Prerequisites: Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2

Number of Semesters: 2 (Year-Long Course)

Course Description:

Being the first course in our high school math lineup after Algebra 2 that is truly “elective,” students dig deeper into several concepts from Algebra 2 with increased rigor, with emphases on functions and their graphs (polynomial functions, rational functions, radical functions, exponential and logarithmic functions). A good portion of Precalculus also focuses on a deeper look at Trigonometry, which was introduced in prerequisite courses. Later in the year, with a focus on preparation for Calculus, we will do several smaller units which familiarize students with a variety of mathematical concepts they’ve never seen before: matrices, large multivariable linear systems, sequences and series, and analytic geometry.
