Year 10
Three Year VCE
A three year VCE is a program enables students to study a VCE or VET subject in Year 10 in addition to their 5 Year 10 subjects. This will contribute towards the requirements for VCE.
Families are asked to be mindful that taking a VCE or VET subject early does not enable students to reduce the numbers of subjects they will complete in Year 11 and 12. All students are expected to complete 6 subjects in Year 11 and 5 subjects in Year 12, regardless of having already completed a Year 12 subject in Year 11.
Why select a VCE study in Year 10?
By undertaking a Unit 1 & 2 study in Year 10, students have the opportunity to:
be challenged and experience the rigour of the VCE.
gain valuable experience of the assessment and expectations of the VCE.
complete a higher education study in Year 12, if suitable.
have the maximum number of 6 subjects contributing to their ATAR, providing students the best possible ATAR.
Eligibility for a VCE study in Year 10
Eligibility to undertake a VCE Unit 1 & 2 subject is determined by:
A demonstrated ability to pass Year 10 subjects
Year 9 report
Motivated learners who are conscientious, organised in their approach to homework, study and time management
Dedicated and resilient in their approach to challenge and change
Teacher recommendations
Students will be required to complete a written assessment and or academic panel interview for acceleration in the following subjects:-
