By combining observational programs, autonomous technologies, and numerical modeling, we investigate the physical and biogeochemical processes that drive variability in coastal and shelf seas. Our team works across a range of timescales—from storms and seasonal transitions to long-term climate trends—and collaborates closely with partners from Alaska's coastal communities and scientific teams from across the nation and internationally.
The lab is based at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, where students, staff, and faculty contribute to cutting-edge research in physical oceanography and its links to marine ecosystems. Beyond academic science, our work supports marine resource management and conservation efforts, fisheries, and community resilience in a rapidly changing North Pacific and Arctic. Operations are based out of labs on the UAF Troth Yeddha’ campus and the Seward Marine Center.
