FDT designed and delivered special payload systems to the ACUASI. In this page a brief description of the special systems are described.
With the need to deliver packages or supplies aerially with drones, a package delivery system was designed. The system will fit the S900 and S1000 with the use of different mounting components.
The designed implemented uses a NEMA 15 Stepper motor, carbon fiber rods, a custom twin lead screw, cut aluminum plates, and 3D printed parts. The payload delivery system is controlled with by Arduino Mini and the remote control for the S900 or S1000.
Digital Content Delivery System (DCDS) is designed to deliver emergency digital information to the remote user who does not have access to cellular coverage or other networks. For example, firefighters in Alaska requires an emergency route during their rescue mission which is updated in an app called avenza, but they can not access to the updated information as remote places at Alaska does not have cellular coverage. As a result, to support the emergency situation DCDS can carry the updated information to the remote user. Whenever UAV comes to the emergency place within the range of the affected person the wifi system ‘FrontierPi’ will be appeared in their phone. If they use password ‘frontier’ they will be connected with the wifi system instantly and using the IP address 192.168.0.1 in the device browser they can find the updated map. To send the emergency information sender can store the updated map in three different ways in the server where over the IP address is the most convenient one. Using a raspberry pi and dongle this operation was made possible. Where raspberry pi acts as an wifi access point as well as server to transfer the emergency information. Dongle helps to extend the range. A python script was developed to create an app such that sender and receiver can transfer the information conveniently.
