BP Alaska, ConocoPhillips Alaska and Hilcorp Alaska all held information sessions with the students this year.
Real world experiences and information are integral parts of the Process Technology degree. Having industry partners make presentations to the students throughout the year provides them with the knowledge they need about career opportunities, the working conditions and locations as well as insight into the values of the companies.
Thank you to our industry partners for visiting with the students.
The UAF CTC Process Technology program has created a helmet sticker. We are in the process of reaching out to our alumni and providing each of them with a sticker. We are also giving them to our graduates.
If you are an alumni and would like a sticker please contact us.
Chris Markie, ’13 CTC Process Tech Graduate stopped by the Process Tech facility and spent time talking with current Process Tech students in three classes.

Thank you Chris for sharing your insight with the current Process Tech students.
The Rural Alaska Honor's Institute (RAHI) provides rural and Alaska Native students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the college experience for six weeks. High school junior and senior students live in the dorms and take college level courses. Nine RAHI students enrolled in PRT 101 and PRT 255 earning 4 credits.
RAHI 2019 will be begin this week. There are currently eight students signed up for the Process Technology courses. We look forward to them following the path of other RAHI students who became Process Technology graduates: two former RAHI students graduated with Process Technology Degrees earlier this month.
We are also happy to welcome one RAHI from last summer to the program starting full time this fall.
On March 30, 2018, the Community & Technical College (CTC) of University of Alaska-Fairbanks (UAF) graduated eight Mining Mill Operations students. This was the third cohort of students to graduate since the program began in 2016.
The graduation took place at the 2018 Alaska Miners Association Conference at the Carlson Center in Fairbanks.
The Mining Mill Operations Occupational Endorsement program was established as a collaborative effort with the CTC Process Technology department and the UAF Mine Engineering department. This effort was part of a large Department of Labor (TAACCCT) grant to improve training programs for the Mining industry in Alaska.
27 students have graduated the Mining Mill Operations occupational endorsement program since its inception in 2016.
The first two cohorts were in-person courses during 10-week sessions, five days a week eight hours a day.
The third session of the program was modified to provide on-line courses for the first 14 weeks, followed by a two week hands-on intensive lab.
This two week session was performed as a “shift”, with 12 hour days, 14 days straight and students living in a camp at the Fairbanks Pipeline Training Center.
