• Fairbanks is located within the Fairbanks North Star Borough which has a population of nearly 100,000. The borough is approximately 7,460 square miles; slightly smaller than the state of New Jersey.
• Fairbanks has one of the world's largest range of temperatures. In the summer temperatures can reach 90 degrees. During the winter months temperatures can drop to -60 degrees.
• The hours of daylight varies greatly throughout the year. The summer solstice brings close to 23 hours of daylight to Fairbanks. By the winter solstice there is a little over 2 hours of daylight each day.
