SAON ROADS Expert Panels and Shared Arctic Variables
RNA CoObs Indigenous Liaison Craig Chythlook leads a discussion on shared Arctic variables a workshop at the Alaska Forum on the Environment 2023.
Initiating a Shared Arctic Variable Expert Panel
This RNA CoObs Task Team is supporting the creation of a process for establishing an Expert Panel on a Shared Arctic Variable under the Sustaining Arctic Observing Network’s Roadmap for Arctic Observing and Data Systems (ROADS) process.
Team Lead: Alice Bradley, Williams College
Specific objectives include:
Supporting the establishment of Expert Panels around key Shared Arctic Variables (potential panels: salmon, harmful algal blooms [HABs], coastal erosion and extreme weather events)
Identifying potential funding mechanisms to support panels and panel participation
Working with the SAON ROADS Advisory Panel to determine next steps in the ROADS process
Outlining a specific process for setting up future Expert Panels
