Dates & Deadlines

Fall Semester 2025

August 15: Deadline to enroll in Graduate Assistant health insurance for continuing or new coverage.

September 8: Deadline to enroll in Graduate Assistant health insurance for late hires (benefits retroactive to August 25, 2025).

October 25: Deadline to register for  independent and directed studies; practicum, internship, research, thesis courses; and continuous registration. 

December 1: Deadline to submit Thesis, Dissertation, and Project Title Page to the Graduate School for fall graduation.

December 13: Deadline to submit Theses, Dissertations, and Projects with Approval Forms to the Graduate School for fall graduation.

December 14: Graduate Hooding Ceremony

March 1: Deadline to be considered for a Fall or Fall/Spring teaching assistantship (TA-ship).

November 1: Deadline to be considered for continuation TA-ship from Fall to Spring or for a new Spring only TA-ship.

Academic Year Graduate Thesis Submission Deadlines

These deadlines provide the Director of Biological Sciences and the College Dean with sufficient time to read theses and return them to students for review and editing prior to submission to the next level. Edits and revisions can, and likely will, be required at each stage of the process. Students are therefore encouraged to leave more time than indicated below.

Thesis Submission Deadline to Committee:

• Committee sets deadline, but usually at least 2 weeks before the department. You will need time to incorporate comments after each stage.

Thesis Title Page Submission Deadline to Graduate School (these never change. If they fall on a weekend, the deadline becomes the preceding Friday)***:

• Fall December 1st

• Spring April 10th

• Summer July 10

Thesis Deadline for the Department of Biological Sciences for review and signature are as follows:

• Fall             November 21 (Preferably Nov 14 to give dept 2 wks to review and student 1 wk to edit)

• Spring April 10 (Preferably April 3 to give dept 2 wks to review and student 1 wk to edit)

• Summer July 10 (Preferably July 3)

Thesis Deadline for the College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Office for review and signature are as follows:

• Fall       December 5

• Spring April 24

• Summer July 24

Thesis Submission Deadlines to The Graduate School (forms uploaded to ETD): This is always the Friday before the graduate hooding ceremony except in summer

• Fall               December 12

• Spring May 1, 2026

• Summer August 1, 2026
