The Moving Forward Together project is focused on building a solid foundation for institutional transformation at UAF that will create a supportive educational and research environment for Alaska Native and other students in historically underrepresented groups in the geosciences and beyond. Our process includes developing awareness, resources, and pedagogical support for integrating sustainability science into the geosciences graduate education at UAF.
The ultimate objective of this project is to build capacity in the geosciences for Indigenous scientists and use-inspired basic research to meet evolving sustainability challenges in Alaska and the Arctic, and in the longterm, will reinforce Alaska Native sovereignty and self-determination by enhancing community capacity for climate adaptation and sustainability.
