Faculty Involvement

A Faculty General Education Retreat

In June 2020, July 2021, and June 2022 a small team of faculty and collaborators retreated to the Denali region to reflect on what we learned from our results. We met at a safe period during the COVID-19 pandemic and held an outdoor,  socially distanced gathering.

Together, we decided that we wanted to continue this practice each summer. It felt good to get away and reflect together on the importance of what we do and our commitment to student learning.

GER Assessment Pilot Orientation

Three think tanks were held in 2018-2019 with a diverse, interdisciplinary group of faculty on Saturday mornings. Faculty had varying levels of position but all faculty had experience and interest in General Education. Over the course of three weekends, our thinking became distilled into these basic relationships.

In 2014-2015, this report helped change a course-based writing and oral communication requirement to communication learning outcomes.

In 2012-2013, engaged faculty created a survey to ensure that the development of General Education was inclusive and faculty-driven.
