GRADUATE STUDENT MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

In Fall of 2021 we organized a graduate student mentor program to pair incoming students with more senior students. Graduate school can be confusing and your experience will be unique. There is no true roadmap to navigating graduate school and we hope that having a mentor in your program will help to fill in the gaps that formal handbooks and guides don't satisfy. From advice on navigating registration, grants, healthcare to simple guidance on local trails and housing, we hope this program will provide another avenue of support to students from your peers. This program also offers the opportunity for undergraduates to be paired with Grads/postdocs as well as optional pairing with our list of professional contacts through the Alaska Chapter of American Fisheries Society.

MENTORSHIP SIGN-UP SURVEY

Please fill out the above form to let us know if you are interested in being a mentor or mentee in our new program.

Above is a link to our living document with quick tips and life hacks made for CFOS graduate students by CFOS graduate students. The guide is just a start and we could use more input from a wider range of the student body; if you have updates or additions please make suggestions on the google doc, or contact ua-fossa@alaska.edu
