Lesson for STEAM exploration through Digital Storytelling
Technology
Technology should be directed by your objectives for the exercise. The production can be simple or a large complex group project. There are some good free options for apps and software and your school may offer others, but there is no best technology for digital storytelling. If you have goals in mind, talk with your EdTech specialist to find out what is already available or do a google search for other free options. Here is a short list of some software that is free:
iMovie (Mac)
MovieMaker (Win)
Creative Commons Licensed Media
There are so many Public Domain and open Creative Commons licensed media items available for your students to use. It's a good way to integrate some digital citizenship practice with students to talk about the ethics and legality of using other people's creative work and how to use properly use attribution. Here are a few links to get you and your students started. Depending on grade level and project allotted time, you may want to download a curated collection for them to choose from.
