Adopt A

Mammoth

(Fossil)

in partnership with:

Help us hunt for the youngest aged woolly mammoth in Alaska by adopting a mammoth fossil from the University of Alaska Museum of the North's collection.

Adopt and, if you would like to, name a fossil. You can even adopt a whole 'herd' of mammoth fossils.

Once adopted we will radiocarbon date your mammoth(s) and send you the results with the photo and location of your fossil(s).

A map of the specimens are shown above from the University of Alaska Museum of the North

The museum has more than 1500 mammoth fossils (fragments of bones, teeth and tusks) collected from all over Alaska and very few have been dated - YET.

After donation your name will be recorded in the project database with the specimen(s) in perpetuity.

The date for your adopted mammoth fossil will appear automatically on the results chart above, will be entered into the project data-base with your name and will allow more exciting mammoth research

Watch the competition unfold.

After all the mammoth fossils in the collection have been dated we will announce the winner who adopted the youngest dated mammoth in the collection.

The winner will receive a trophy and can choose to have their photo put on display in the museum with their adopted mammoth fossil during the announcement period.
