The Reliability of Current Treatments for Pressure Ulcers in the Medical Field
Berkeley BioEHSC Project
For Honors Biology in 11th grade, I participated in the Berkeley Bioengineering High School Competition. I, along with my group members created a project that explored the world of pressure ulcers, and devised a design of a bed with the goal of alleviating pressure ulcers for hospital patients. I find this project to be particularly impressive because it was all created by distance learning. Our group had to be resourceful in communication not only among ourselves, but also to our facilitator, fellow classmates, judges, and mentors.
Farewell to Freedom: Vietnam War POWs
Farewell to Manzanar Website Project
In 9th Grade English Class, we read the memoir Farewell to Manzanar by Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston and James D. Houston. At the end of the unit, we were tasked to make a website connecting the internment of Japanese people in America during WW2 described in the book to another world event similar to it. I, along with my partner Emma Davison decided to make a connection to Vietnam War POWs. I am exceptionally proud of this piece of work, particularly for the amount of depth that we went into regarding these people involved. We even interviewed a Northern Vietnamese woman who was alive to experience the horrid events of the war.
The California Drought - Where is the water? And how can we find it?
C-SPAN StudentCam 2020 Project
For our final project in 12th Grade Government, we were assigned to make an informative video on how the government affects our lives. We were also instructed to find two interviewees to interview about the subject. We struggled to find interviewees at first, and after many calls that went unanswered, we finally heard back from a professor of Hydrology at Chico State University. I am particularly proud of how this video turned out, and it definitely familiarized me with the process of setting up and recording interviews for school projects.
