Service Learning
Service Learning is an opportunity to transfer all of the understanding from different parts of the curriculum to make a difference in someone else’s life. The course aims to empower students to become active global citizens, where they are inspired to engage in ethical service experiences that are collaborative, reciprocal and transformational. Through service, students develop socially and emotionally in a holistic manner. The semester-long course will require students to reflect on their service experience by being assessed on their communication, collaborative, critical and creative thinking skills.
Leadership Council
Students take on school leadership through the organization of different activities and sport competitions. Through this course, students will gain leadership, organizational, communication and social skills. Signing up for this course will involve an application process as not all students will be able to register for this course.
Strategic Learning
Strategic Learning is a class offered for students who are identified as needing to further develop skills that will assist learning throughout Middle School and beyond. Once identified for this course, it is a required semester course. The course focuses on planning, prioritization, and organization. Through these key topics, students will develop strategies such as using digital tools to assist them in completing tasks in a timely manner as well as being organized. Students practice reflection and goal setting throughout the learning process. For those who have demonstrated master of personalized learning targets, will practice additional study skill strategies such as note-taking and time-management.
