Ramonah Gibson

           Middle School Social Studies Teacher

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! My name is Miss Gibson. I am the Humanities or Social Studies Teacher this year. Humanities combines ELA and Social Studies into one course. I am also a middle school Drama teacher.  Long story short, your child and I will discuss, write, perform, read, and laugh a great deal about the world, history, culture, and MORE!

I am Ms. Viola Johnson, and I am the teacher for AP Human Geography, AP Psychology, U.S. History, and African Studies. It is my privilege and honor to guide you through these captivating subjects, each offering unique insights into the human experience, culture, history, and the world around us.

U.S. History will provide a comprehensive journey through the rich tapestry of American History. From the nation's founding to its modern challenges and triumphs, we will delve into the events and individuals that have shaped the United States into what it is today.

African Studies will open the doors to the rich and diverse cultures, histories, and societies of the African continent. Through exploration of historical events, and case studies of contemporary issues, we will gain a broader perspective on the global community. Students will study and analyze specific events in African Colonialism and Modern Africa, Liberian history, Nigerian history, and South African history.

My aim is to create a classroom environment that encourages collaboration, critical thinking, and respectful dialogue. I am dedicated to fostering an atmosphere where each student's voice is valued and where ideas are shared freely. Expect a range of engaging activities, interactive projects, and thought-provoking discussions that will make learning come alive.
